About Me
My name is Linda Clerkin, and I am an experienced psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and families.
My work is grounded in the belief that everyone is fundamentally OK. When difficulties arise—particularly in relationships—there are always understandable reasons behind the patterns we find ourselves in.
Therapy offers a space to explore those patterns with care, clarity and compassion, and to begin to change them.
My Approach
I am trained in Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapy, and my work is informed by developmental and systemic thinking.
This means we look at both present difficulties and how earlier experiences may have shaped them, as well as the relational patterns that develop over time.
I aim to offer a space that is both professionally grounded and emotionally attuned—where you feel safe enough to explore what is difficult, while being supported to create meaningful change.
The experience I bring
Alongside my training and experience as a psychotherapist, I bring a good deal of life experience to my work. Over the years, I've come to understand that life and relationships are rarely straightforward, and that we all do the best we can with what we know and understand at the time.
I've been in a long-term relationship and raised a family of my own, so I know that even the strongest relationships have their ups and downs. People change, circumstances change, and sometimes we find ourselves struggling to understand one another in ways we didn't before. That doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong with the relationship. Often, it's a sign that something needs attention, understanding or a different approach.
Family life has also taught me that things are seldom as simple as they first appear. When difficulties arise, it's easy to see one person as the problem, but there's usually much more going on between everyone involved. I try to bring that understanding and curiosity into my work with families.
I've also had my share of life's unexpected challenges, including times when things felt uncertain or outside my control. Those experiences have helped me appreciate just how important it is to feel heard, understood and supported when life becomes difficult.
I don't pretend to have all the answers, and I don't believe there's one right way to live or to have a relationship. What I offer is my professional knowledge, my experience and a genuine interest in understanding the people who come to see me. Together, we can explore what's happening and what might help things feel different.
Working together
Whether you come to therapy individually, as a couple or as a family, my aim is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where we can explore what matters to you.
I offer appointments in person in Lincoln and online.
